Flax Porridge |
3 cups water
1/2 tsp salt 1 & 1/2 cups quick cooking oats 1/3 cup chopped dried apple or raisins 1/4 cup pure maple syrup 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 cup sliced natural almonds or chopped walnuts 2 Tbsp whole flaxseed 2 Tbsp ground flaxseed In a medium saucepan, bring water and salt to a rolling boil. Add oats, apple or raisins, maple syrup and cinnamon, stir. Cook 3 to 5 minutes over medium to medium low heat, stirring occasionally. Stir in almonds and flax. Cover, remove from heat, and let sit 2 minutes. Serve with warm milk. Drizzle with extra maple syrup, if desired. Yields 5 servings of 3/4 cup each. |
